I am super successful

No, this isn’t some “fake it ’till you make it” mantra, although I guess it could be used that way. I really do believe that in my life, for me, I am super successful. Here’s why.

I live in a great house.
Sure, it isn’t perfect. The roof leaks and the tub plunger (that little flipper thingy that controls when the water goes out or stays in? yeah, that thing) doesn’t stay down without the help of a mason jar full of nails, but I love it. It’s big, and it keeps the snow off of me. It has a lot of character. Plus I make coffee there. I love my house.

I have great people around me.
I was blessed with three great parents, a wonderful network of extended family, an incredible and beautiful baby sister and a super talented and creative (step) brother, who is really more like a real brother to me. I absolutely adore my family. I have the sweetest, most loving cat ever known to man, who would be happy as a pig in you-know-what to sit in my lap all day long. You had better believe I consider her a “person”. We have conversations (yes, she talks, no, I don’t understand her) and she knows my deepest secrets, and I know she would never ever tell a soul. I work with a really amazing, diverse group of people, and most of them I would consider friends. And, my roommate. No discussion of how lucky I am would be complete without mentioning him. I would not be where I am today without him, both literally and figuratively. He is a better boyfriend than any other I’ve ever had, even though he’s not. Maybe someday I’ll get into the nuts and bolts of how I feel and why, but just be satisfied with this for now; he is my best friend, my better half, and even though there is nothing even resembling a romantic connection there, he is my soulmate. Not sure what I would do without him.

I make enough money to live.
I can’t say that I wouldn’t like to have more. But there’s a big difference between want and need, and I have enough to provide everything I need to survive. I can pay my rent, my utilities, I can buy groceries, I can be frivolous every now and then. Most importantly I can buy yarn, so I can keep up with my favorite thing in the world. And if I get bored with knitting occasionally? I have enough money to pay a World of Warcraft subscription fee. I may not have enough to retire someday, but who knows if I’ll actually make it that long anyway?

I have plenty of things to fill my time.
Two jobs, knitting, keeping up with my Etsy shop, and there are always tv shows recorded on the dvr or some kind of sporting event. I am never bored, and if I am, I take a road trip (ie our trip to Colorado last year, pic below) or go hiking somewhere or go to the gym.

I love my life.
It’s hardly ever perfect. I’m always super tired. I have to work really hard. But you know what? It’s so worth it. And I’m grateful for it.
